Ohenewaa Constance Ankoma is the Founder of Erudite Women’s Empowerment Foundation (EWEF), a registered and an award-winning women-led nonprofit organization in Ghana that seeks to empower the lives of women and girls in rural communities through access to sustainable menstrual health options and reproductive health education.
Ohenewaa was inspired to start her organization because of the terrible experience she had as young girl growing up in a rural community- period poverty.
EWEF organizes capacity building workshops on menstrual hygiene management for adolescent girls and boys to become peer educators and ambassadors in their communities and schools, and as well support the girls with sanitary pads from our generous donors. EWEF has impacted the lives of over 1000 women and girls in the Ashanti Region of Ghana since its birth in 2017, still works relentlessly with the hope of reaching out to more women and girls in Ghana and beyond.
Through EWEF, Ohenewaa has created Erudite Ushering Agency– a profit-making agency that grooms and trains young ladies for protocol services at social events. The proceeds from this agency is used to support the activities of her nonprofit.
Ohenewaa is also a teacher by profession, and currently pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Mathematics), University of Cape Coast.
She mentors young women and youth, speaks on radio and at conferences. Ohenewaa aspires to be a lawyer, and she is committed to working towards an Africa in which women and girls are truly empowered to achieve their fullest potential.
For her outstanding contribution to the development of humanity, Ohenewaa has received so many awards, and has been named as a Global Goodwill Ambassador to Ghana.
She want to be remembered as an amazing contributor to the development of humanity; the one that helped women and girls deciphered their dreams and actually achieved them.’
Her mantra remains, ‘GET PERFECT LATER, START NOW!
